Assyifah: “Lessons, lessons, and more lessons!”

Hi everyone, my name is Assyifa! But you can call me Azmi. Azmi is my last name, but not my family’s name. I think it’s simpler to spell. I was born in 1999 and I love cooking, crochet and biology. That’s why I’m here, doing a volunteer program from Little Fireface Project! Because of the biology I like.

Actually, another hobby is collecting a mysterious photo of me hehe, taken by Bang Hilman

I spend a boring time in home while COVID-19 until I found a pamphlet on LFP’s Instagram. I expected to make this volunteer program an internship program to complete my study in my university. And guess what? I’m not just have an internship program but also a research program for my thesis! It’s amazing.

Katey, the Research Coordinator, gave me a brilliant suggestion for my thesis. First of all, I want to doing one of mini project in here but I still didn’t know what I was going to do. When I discussed with Katey, my research became more specific and clearer. Katey made many suggestions that might be possible to do. So, between that options, I am going to do research on the Activity Log of Slow Loris in Cipaganti. Katey make everything in my head easier, actually.

Beside my research, I want to improve my skills in field. Bang Nabil and Kak Esther help me a lot in here. Bang Nabil and Kak Esther help me to manage and handle observation and task in the field. The tracker also gives me much lesson in field. We share experience, idea and value to be conservationist. That’s great.

I also meet another volunteer who have great experience. I learn to have some spirit and curiosity from Bang Hilman and Yusi. So, whatever we do in the fields, that’s going to be fun and enjoy.

O ya! I also have a nice Field Station Coordinator in here. Her name is Sophie. She such a cheerful girl who passionate to try everything. She welcomes to everyone and have a nice sense of humor. We did rounds in Cipaganti Village to celebrate Pride Day, and made the Cleanest RW and Best Slow Loris Sculpture competition. Also, we did socialization about Slow Loris, and the response from villagers is so exciting!

I love this photo very much, me and Sophie, taken by Bang Hilman
