Assyifa’s Volunteering Experience: My Second Home

What can you get by volunteering in LFP? Well, Assyifa will give you examples!

Garut. Even though my family mostly come from West Java, but Garut is such an untouchable area for me. But an opportunity has come to me, that day, I went to Garut.

Like the song said, “We are family, I got all my sisters with me!”

On fasting day on Ramadhan, when every plan was ruined by pandemic and I just did nothing in my home, there was a poster from Instagram of Little Fireface Project. Since my senior ever told me about this NGO, I always follow its news from Instagram. Actually, I have seen Hilman’s Instagram story with Aconk and Sophie was tagging in @littlefirface, so I asked Hilman if he might be joined this program. And it was true! He was joining this volunteering program. So, it made me easier to have a permit from my parents. Because I have a friend in there, so they don’t have to be worried. And it worked!

One month I prepared all of the stuff that is written in the Volunteer Guide. I borrowed my friend’s binocular, boots and bag. I bought everything that I need, every little thing. And I started to research LFP from their platforms like youtube, Instagram and blog. I am very excited.

Fun day all day, hanging out in the village scoring doing the cleanest RW competition
Who said only an adult doing an outdoor activity? Kids love going out!

I really enjoyed my volunteering program here until 9 months pass. It solved my 60% of my college problems, like internship program, socialisation, speaking English and Sundanese, KKN (Teaching Program), study, research and many more. I met great people. They are such a hardworking, creative and incredible people. I learned so much with another volunteers and staff, they brought my confidence up. They welcomed me like an old friend. It made Rumah Hijau a second home to me.

Random, but fun!
